What are dental veneers
Veneers are made out of a high-quality porcelain ceramic material. Essentially, they are very small, thin “shells” that fit perfectly over your teeth and replace the front chewing surface, covering up imperfections like stains, misshapen teeth, gaps, chips, and other issues. Veneers are a cosmetic treatment, and they are not intended for patients who have seriously damaged teeth, or who may require restorative treatments like root canals or crowns.
the veneer placement process
Your teeth will be prepared for the veneers by removing a very thin layer of enamel, equal in thickness to your veneers. This ensures a perfect fit when the veneers are placed.
Then, images and impressions are taken of your mouth, and the information is sent to our lab where your veneers will be created. You’ll wear a set of temporary veneers to protect your teeth until the permanent veneers are manufactured.
When your permanent veneers arrive at our office, your teeth will be cleaned to prepare them for final veneer placement. Then, Dr. Green will check the fit and finish of each veneer, and bond them in place with a strong dental cement.
What are the benefits of veneers?
Veneers are a popular cosmetic treatment because of their many benefits:
- Natural look and feel – Your veneers will look and feel completely natural, and they will be indistinguishable from your real teeth.
- Non-invasive – Only a very small layer of enamel must be removed for veneers and prolonged, complex dental surgery is not required.
- Durable and stain-resistant – Porcelain is a very tough, stain-resistant material, so your veneers will look bright and beautiful for years to come.
